"Every child deserves a champion. An adult who will never give up on them. Who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

Mrs. Day

Hi there! I am Mrs. Day, and I'm so excited to be your 1st grade teacher! This is my 4th year teaching at Carleton P. Lightfoot, but will be my fifth year teaching 1st grade!

I received my degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, though I am a Rancho Cucamonga native! Before teaching at CPL I taught in Marina Del Rey and in Finland! I married my high school sweetheart 3 years ago and we live locally with our mini bernadoodle Penelope and 17 month old daughter Olivia.

This year we will grow and have fun together. My hope is that my classroom is a place where the students feel loved, feel capable, and feel challenged. We will have lots of fun while learning all the amazing and rigorous things in our 1st grade standards! I am looking forward to this year and getting to know all of you!

Please tear out the pages from the workbook, attach it to the cover page, and turn it in when due.The homework packet is due the NEXT Friday. The cover page will list the concepts and skills we are learning for the week and what pages of homework to do for the week.

Homework will reinforce concepts being learned in class and give each student an opportunity to continue to practice and develop their skills from content in Language Arts, Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.

A Peek at Our Week ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

Each week the cover page of the homework will have our class newsletter with spelling words and vocabulary words. We take weekly assessments on both spelling and vocabulary words. It will give more detail about the grammar skills, reading genres and strategies and our Essential Question. Below is a brief list of the units in our Wonders and Go Math curriculum.
