Nancy Garrigues

I grew up in Maryland and have progressively moved west. I have lived in Maryland, New Jersey, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Utah. California has been my home since 2001. I have been happily married for 39 years to Ed and we have two adult daughters. I am a dog lover and share my home with a rescue boxer mix named Stanley. I love hiking, reading, snow, and Tootsie Rolls.

Teaching is my passion. I believe that education includes academics as well as the process of becoming valuable members in a community. Each day we grow. We never settle for less than our best and we welcome hard work as a challenge. We persevere. We have fun. We struggle. We support each other. We laugh.

Announcements

Headphones: Personal headphones are highly reccommended for school use. If possible, please send a personal set of headphones, labeled with your child's name, to school. We do have a limited number of headphones available. However, due to comfort and health concerns, we prefer headphones from home.

Attendance: Please have your child to school and lined up no later than 8:10. They are considered tardy if they are not in seat @ 8:15. On Mondays, school begins at 8:15 and dismissal is at 1:15. Tuesday-Friday school begins at 8:15 and dismissal is at 2:45.

Library: Library day is TUESDAY. Students should have library books each day in their book bag. It is especially important to have them on Tuesdays. Remember: Students may visit the library each day before school to return books and get new ones.

Physical Education: P.E. is every Monday and Wednesday. On these days, please ensure that your child has water and is dressed appropriately for outside weather. Close-toed shoes are required.

Spirit Days: On Fridays, we celebrate EH pride by wearing an EH school shirt (purchased through our PTO) or a blue or green shirt (school colors).

Homework

Due every Friday, unless Friday is a non-student day: Please note the due date at the top of the cover page

See parent newsletter and weekly homework packet for more details.

Homework will go home in your child's homework binder every FRIDAY and will be returned the following FRIDAY. If Friday is a holiday, homework will go home the day we return. We do this so that you are able to get started over the weekend if you know you have a busy week ahead. This will also help your child become acquainted with the upcoming skills. We do not correct homework. However, we do look it over and it does count toward each child's participation grade. Important! Please take care of the SCOUT binder. It should to be brought to and from school every day. If the binder is damaged or lost, please notify me as soon as possible. It is an important resource for you and your child, so please treat it with care. Thank you for supporting your child and helping them succeed!
