Meet and Greet
Welcome to second grade! My name is Sally Melvin. My life began in Illinois. I moved to California after acquiring a bachelor’s degree in business/finance. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in the business world in all fields related to mortgage lending and real estate.
Teaching has always been a dream of mine. I am beginning my 22nd year in Etiwanda. This will be my twelfth year in second grade. Previously, I taught kindergarten for ten years at Golden and East Heritage. In addition to acquiring my teacher credential, I also pursued my master’s in education.
Above is a photo of my husband and I in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Mr. Melvin and I spend our summers and holidays in Montana...it is our happy place! He is a retired teacher. I guess teaching runs in the family! We reside in Glendora and enjoy traveling in our free time. My favorite hobbies are puzzles, crafts, reading, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
My teaching philosophy includes:
guide and help children in the learning process
motivate student academic performance
encourage students to appreciate education
develop in students a respect for themselves and others
continue to learn and grow as a teacher to improve my skills
Teaching brings me immense joy! I promote teamwork in the education process and look forward to us sharing in your child's academic and personal growth. We are going to have an exciting year together. I am delighted to be here!
