Windrows Elementary School

Michele Haefner

Hello, and welcome to my classroom website. This is my 32nd year teaching at Windrows Elementary School. I began my career at Windrows in 1993! I truly enjoy teaching, and my greatest satisfaction comes from watching students develop a love for learning.

I grew up in Corona, California, and I graduated from Corona High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Studies and my California Teaching Credential from the University of California, Riverside. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning in 2006. My interests include spending time with my husband and my two sons. I enjoy reading, gardening, hiking, boating, and fishing. I love spending time outdoors. Two of my favorite places are Lake Mead and Hawaii. I also enjoy learning new things!

HOMEWORK

READING:

Homework includes nightly reading for 30 minutes. This is to ensure that the AR reading goal is met on time. Books should be within the prescribed reading zone (ZPL). Students can access reading materials from the library, the classroom, or online on Sora.

REINFORCEMENT:

Other homework generally consists of math and spelling/vocabulary practice. Incomplete assignments may also be assigned to be completed at home.

WANT MORE?

Students can always challenge/enrich their homework curriculum by logging on to ThinkCentral (Reteach/Enrichment pages) or work on i-Ready for either math or reading!

TUTORING:

Real-time homework assistance can now be accessed 24/7 here and on the websites of local public libraries around the state – click on the “HelpNow” link to reach a one-on-one tutor. The program offers assistance in Math, Language Arts, and other core K-12 subjects in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There’s no age limit to who can use the service.
