By cooking together, you make them an active part of the process. When they look at the dish they have created, they feel a deeper connection to what they are about to eat. Because of this, they enjoy it more. Image: Family in the Kitchen Cooking

A big shout-out to Mrs. Gionet for providing such an excellent learning opportunity for the new multilingual students at EIS. Mrs. Gionet made sure the students learned about Halloween traditions. The students were able to "trick or treat" around campus. It was a fun and practical learning experience.

May, a 5th grade student from Caryn Elementary, showed her school spirit by representing her school in the district spelling bee last year. May studied a lot and was very proud of herself for placing 2nd at Caryn and 4th in the district. During the bee, May felt nervous and excited at the same time. Her advice to others is to not worry about getting the words right; just try your best and have fun with it.
