Mrs. Herrera’s class at Falcon Ridge enjoyed a special treat this week as Mrs. Lyons and Mr. Kooyman stopped by as guest readers, sharing stories and spending time with students while celebrating the joy of reading together.

Students at DW Long Elementary enjoyed a special visit from officers with the Fontana Police Department, who spent time reading with classes.
It was a great opportunity for students to hear a story, connect with community helpers, and share a few smiles along the way. A fun experience for both the students and the officers alike.

Students at Falcon Ridge spent time reading together across grade levels during Buddy Reading. Older students partnered with younger students to share stories, build confidence, and celebrate the joy of reading together.
Moments like these help students grow as readers while building connections and encouraging a love of books across the whole school.

Lightfoot Elementary is celebrating a week full of reading fun, especially with their youngest learners in kindergarten. It’s always special when the principal joins the classroom to share a story—moments like these create memories that last a lifetime.

West Heritage welcomed special guest readers for their Read Across West event. From Board members to district administrators, students enjoyed reading, listening, and sharing stories together.

Mr. Kooyman is having fun shooting hoops and connecting with students. When students see adults prioritizing movement and making time to engage with them, it leaves a lasting impression. What a great way to lead by example and have a little fun along the way. Positive role models. Positive moments. That’s what it’s all about. #wellnesswednesday #healthyetiwandakids

Happy Monday, Etiwanda! Let’s start the week off strong, just like these third and fourth graders showing their TV spirit wear with pride. They love the friendships they’ve built at Terra Vista and being part of the TV school family. It’s a great day to learn, grow, and support one another.

High five to the incredible Grapeland PTA moms and Assistant Principal Tanisha Styles for leading with heart and purpose this Black History Month. Together, they honored the powerful legacy of Black women, past, present, and future. By celebrating trailblazers and lifting up the next generation, they are helping students see what leadership, strength, and community look like in action.

A big high five to Lightfoot’s PTO and librarian Mrs. Cortes for celebrating 67 Battle of the Books finalists with a well earned pizza party. These dedicated students will represent CPL at the upcoming Battle of the Books, and their hard work truly shows. Each finalist read at least 15 books and passed every required test to earn their spot. Leopard Pride is roaring at CPL as these readers get ready to compete and showcase their love of books.

It was a busy week, and we know someone out there went above and beyond and deserves a little extra recognition.

Students in the after school Garden Club at Etiwanda Colony Elementary School are growing more than just plants.
As they plant, water, and care for the garden, they are learning where their food comes from while building teamwork, responsibility, and healthy habits. The garden gives students a chance to slow down, work together, and feel proud of what they have grown. #wellnesswednesday #healthyetiwandakids

For Black History Month, Mrs. Henry’s kindergarten class at Lightfoot Elementary spent time learning about the life and accomplishments of Mae Jemison. Students read Mae Among the Stars and talked about how she followed her dreams all the way to space.
The class created their own astronaut projects and had meaningful conversations about her powerful words: “Don’t let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity.” It was inspiring to see our young learners thinking big, asking questions, and imagining all the places their own dreams could take them.

High Five Friday! Long Elementary’s PTO is giving a big high five to Monica and Gabby in the DWL front office. They are always willing to help and work closely with PTO to coordinate events that create meaningful experiences for students.
From handling the details to making sure everything runs smoothly, they go above and beyond to support our school community.

What a meaningful way to celebrate Black History Month. Mrs. Bragole’s class shared the dreams they have for their future, inspired by the message of Martin Luther King Jr.. It was a powerful reminder that every student’s voice, goals, and hopes matter.
