Welcome to Mrs. Guerra's Class

Mrs. Guerra

Hello and welcome to DCIS! My name is Dana Guerra and this is my 20th year teaching 6th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies at Day Creek. This school is an incredible place and I am looking forward to working with each of you as we work together in learning and reaching our goals.

I received my Bachelor of the Arts Degree in English at the University of California at Irvine and my Master's Degree in Education from the University of LaVerne. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, watching volleyball, and shopping. Teaching middle school is such a rewarding experience and I look forward to getting to know each of my students and helping them achieve their goals, personally, socially, and academically.

The transition to middle school is an exciting time. Please do not get overwhelmed and have fun learning.  If you are feeling overwhelmed, please reach out with any questions you may have. We are all in this together!

I am looking forward to an incredible year. :)

Sincerely,

Mrs. Guerra

Homework

To view the daily homework assignments, please use the tab below with a link to access Planbook. Here you will find the daily schedule and the tentative daily instructional plan. Students will also have access to their assignments in Google Classroom. Assignments for both Language Arts and Social Studies will be posted in one Google Classroom (Homeroom or Switch).

Please note that homework may change daily based on the pacing of our class lessons. The daily homework assignments can be found in Planbook or your Google Classroom. Students can also write or print/staple the weekly homework into their PACK Planner. This will help to stay organized and keep a calendar of assignments, projects, and important dates.  If there is a change made in homework for the week, students can make the change to their PACK Planner immediately.

Planbook is updated weekly on Sunday evening. Students are able to view the current week's assignments, along with the previous week's assignments. As mentioned, Planbook is a live document and updates will be given in class based on the instructional pacing. It is each student's responsibility to copy down the daily classwork and homework updates.
