The Etiwanda School District C.L.O.U.D.S. Preschool Program is designed to be an inclusive setting comprised of Special Education preschool students and General Education peers from the community. Placement in C.L.O.U.D.S. for Special Education students is based on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team decision when C.L.O.U.D.S. is determined to be the least restrictive environment for a student to receive Special Education supports and services. Placement in C.L.O.U.D.S. as a General Education student is based on space availability and meeting enrollment criteria (see Eligibility). Each class is co-taught by a credentialed Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and an Early Childhood Education Instructor.
The Etiwanda Preschool Program (C.L.O.U.D.S.) is an important building block for each student's successful journey through school. Optimum growth for a child evolves from positive, supportive, responsive, and individualized instruction and relationships with adults and peers including parent support throughout learning. Self-esteem, social skills, and intellectual development blossom in an inclusive environment using developmentally appropriate activities that guide students to be actively involved in exploration, discovery, and play. Guidance techniques must be positive and accompanied by rational explanations of expectations. Our preschool staff is trained in early childhood growth and development and skilled at teaching young students the skills they will need as they transition to kindergarten and beyond. The Etiwanda Preschool Program (C.L.O.U.D.S.) believes in the dignity of each individual, student and adult, and the provision of a safe, healthful, and comfortable learning environment.

The major goals of preschool are to develop language, socialization, and preacademic readiness skills. Preschool students learn to make choices and be responsible for their actions while taking pride in their classroom, individual, and group successes. The C.L.O.U.D.S. program includes Frog Street Threes, conscious discipline strategies, which places an emphasis on foundational skills needed for kindergarten transition, pre-literacy instruction including Handwriting Without Tears, Ready, S.E.T., Go! sensory-motor program, and a multitude of other interventions offered in a unique and inclusive setting. Differentiated instruction is used both to meet students' individual goals and objectives and to challenge each student to reach his/her full developmental potential.
Related service providers and staff members including psychologists, nurses, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, vision therapists, deaf/hard of hearing specialists, instructional aides, program specialists, and administrators collaborate to provide services to our students and assist them in their development and progress.
