Ms. Learmont

Hello and welcome! I am thrilled to be a part of your 6th-grade experience. This is my seventh year at Day Creek Intermediate School. I received my M.Ed in Educational Technology from the University of La Verne. I also received my multiple-subject teaching credential and BA from La Verne. I have lived in the Southern California area for most of my life, but as a former Army brat, I have moved around quite a bit. I have 2 children: Chance and Ezra. I am a former and future Day Creek parent, and I look forward to forging and cultivating meaningful experiences for our students, as well as open communication between school and family.

I cannot wait to have a fantastic year with you here at DCIS!

Suggested Materials

Organization is key in 6th grade. Our students are provided with the materials they need for instruction; however, many families and students find it helpful to purchase folders and binders to organize those materials for class. This is a suggested supply list and purchase of these items is voluntary. In the past, the following items have been helpful for students in 6th grade.

  • #2 pencils

  • blue or black pens

  • red pens

  • composition notebook

  • loose-leaf lined paper (or spiral notebook)

  • highlighters (blue, yellow, green, purple, pink)

  • personal manual pencil sharpener

  • scissors

  • 2 inch three-ring binder

  • plastic folders with prongs

  • sheet protectors

  • dividers for binder

  • glue sticks

  • index cards (lined or blank)

  • 2 pocket folders

At home student access to an internet-capable device is also recommended. Students will need access to Google Classroom and ConnectED/StudySync.

Donations

Donations are always greatly appreciated, and these items are consistently needed in our classrooms. We thank you if you are able to donate, but of course, it is always optional.

  • individually wrapped candy (jolly ranchers, starbursts, no nuts)

  • Expo markers

  • pencils

  • red pens

  • highlighters

  • black flare pens or fine sharpies
