My Background
I am a native of Inglewood, a small community in Southern California’s Los Angeles County. I attended the Inglewood public school system during my formative years before transitioning to an all-girls preparatory high school, St. Mary’s Academy.
At the age of 17, I temporarily relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I matriculated at Southern University and A&M College. There I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. During this time, I was initiated into the renowned community service organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA). Presently, as an active member of the local graduate chapter, I am still committed to active community involvement. I partipate in numerous community service projects through my membership with AKA and my local church family.
My Career
Currently a fourth-year elementary school principal here at Solorio, I aspire to be a transformational leader who fosters academic excellence. Previously, I was an assistant principal and academic advisor at the middle school level. I am also an education specialist who has taught various subjects to students over the past 26 years. In addition to a multiple-subjects teaching credential, I hold a specialized credential in special education as well as a clear administrative services credential. In 2006, I earned a Master’s degree from California State University, San Bernardino in education. Presently, I am a doctoral candidate, completing my third year in the doctorate program at University of Massachusetts Global.
My Pholosophy of Education: Student Centered Focus on the Whole Child
Prioritize the needs, interests, and learning styles of each student. Create an environment where students are actively engaged and empowered to take ownership of their learning.
Focus on the overall development of students, including their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth. Ensure that the
curriculum addresses the needs of the whole child.
