Welcome to Team Awesome! Mrs. Shankle and I are all ready for an amazing school year!

A bit about me:

My name is Lori Edwards. I received my B.A. and teaching credential from CSU San Bernardino. In addition, I have a Master's degree in middle school math education. This will be my 28th year teaching. I have taught middle school at all grade levels, and middle school is my happy place! I have been happily married for30 years and have two sons, ages 24 and 20. I also have 2 dogs named Brady and Bodie. My hobbies include spending time with my family & friends, playing pickleball, watching sports and shopping.

Mission For The Class

My mission for all of my classes is to create a comfortable environment conducive to learning. It is my goal to encourage students to be confident and responsible students, who do their best to succeed in school, as well as being good citizens. My motto is: There are no problems ~ there are only solutions!

Character Strong Elective

Program Goals

n this course, students will be introduced to a weekly topic utilizing the Character Strong Program. The general format for the week is:

  • Ethical Monday - students will discuss scenarios that require critical thinking skills, recognize potential options, understand consequences and make the best choices.

  • Character Tuesday - Students will watch movie clips that exemplify various character traits and then work through questions for meaningful class discussions.

  • Role Model Wednesday - Students will read about positive role models from all different segments of the population and backgrounds that will then lead to class discussion and a quiz about each model and the trait.

  • Leadership Thursday - Students will discuss and learn about leadership qualities that involve each character trait.

  • Assignment Friday - Students will have some type of assessment to show their understanding of the weekly character trait.  Students may plan a school-wide activity, an announcement on the weekly student news or some type of school/community support activity.
